710-750 AD. Obv: facing 'Wodan' head with long hair and beard; pellet-ended cross each side. Rev: dragon beast left with head looking back over shoulder to right, swallowing tail and with prominent pellet-tipped phallus. S. 797; N. 117; see Metcalf pp. 275-293 & plate 16, no. 275 for similar style example (different dies). 0.86 grams. Found Buckland, Gloucestershire, UK, 2013; part of a hoard disclaimed under Treasure Act (reference 2013 T654, with copy of letter and the British Museum report); recorded with Portable Antiquities Scheme (reference GLO-A4E8B3).
