Description
DESCRIPTION: A Japanese WWII military issue katana with late war style military mounts. Ray skin covered wood grip. Brown painted metal scabbard has one ring for the sageo or hanging cord. Decorated brass toe. Signed tang. Made by Yoshi-Hide in the Showa era, April of 1937. Menuki has 4 chrysanthemums, one at each corner. Amateurish repairs have been made to the handle wrapping. MEASUREMENTS: Blade length is approximately 25-1/2". Overall length is 39-1/2". CONDITION: Blade is generally clean with a lightly sharpened edge. The scabbard is solid with light wear to the finish. Sword and scabbard do not lock up well when closed. ESTIMATE: $300-$500.
