Early 20th century telefomin entrance board or "amitung", Eriptaman tribe of Sepik River, Papua New Guinea, carved in Falamtigan village, once incorporated into a cult house storing ancestral relics, of curved triangular form with a rectangular aperture in the lower section, painted and carved with raised black borders enclosing geometric motifs, 112"h x 18"w (9'3"h). Provenance: Acquired at auction, Sotheby's New York, 2000.
