an extraordinary lapidary arts sculpture of striking proportions, the exceptionally lifelike eagle honed from an immense ruby rough of evenly saturated reddish purple color with notably few inclusions, the majestic bird depicted in a soaring position, the artist shows a wonderful sensitivity to the natural form with the posture accurately suggesting air flowing over the body mid turn, the outstretched wings and tail carved and etched down to the individually detailed feathers, the beak and talons embellished with 18 karat yellow gold, the eyes inset with cabochon cut rubies, perched atop a graduated dark granite obelisk.
