A Carved Bi-Color Beryl Koala Bear and Offspring, George Brandt,
Idar-Oberstein, Germany,
a single large and rare piece of Brazilian bicolor beryl was utilized in this charming work, isolating the morganite section of the crystal the artist deftly carved the mother koala and her joey detailing their furry bodies with a frosted finish, their eyes inset with cabochon cut sapphires, the base formed from the greenish yellow section of the crystal and naturalistically shaped to resemble a tree trunk, worth noting are the natural crystal surfaces retained on the reverse of the sculpture.
Hand inscribed: (Maker's mark GB for George Brandt).
