Description

A Mother-of-Pearl Shell and Silver Case, Marguerite Stix,
consisting of two expertly formed and large sections of mother-of-pearl conforming to the natural shell confines, showing areas of strong orient in green and rose hues, set with silver fittings.
Stamp: Stix (Marguerite Stix maker's mark) (Portuguese hallmarks).

Provenance Note:
The late Mrs. Marguerite Stix possessed a superb understanding of the natural works of art that are seashells. Having studied and collected them with her husband for much of her adult life, her passion for the medium spread to jewelry which she created using only the most beautiful specimens and sold through prestigious firms such as Cartier.
