Published by the Leipzig art revue Zeitschrift für Bildende Kunst.Approx. image size 20, 6 x 12, 2/41, 2 x 28, 9 cm.Wilhelm Woernle (1849 – 1922) a highly adept etcher and watercolourist, Wilhelm Woernle studied and worked in his native city of Stuttgart before moving to Vienna about 1876. There, Woernle gained a strong reputation for his watercolours and etched landscape depictions of views throughout Europe, particularly French, German, Austrian and Italian. Woernle’s landscapes were particularly esteemed for their delicate handling of light and shade - - clearly in evidence here is his brilliant treatment of reflections in the water. His work is housed in the permanent collections of famous galleries in Rome, Venice, Vienna, Cologne and Berlin.
