Description
A late Victorian silver and gold diamond-set novelty brooch, circa 1890. Depicting a rose-cut diamond textured monkey, playing a cello, atop a crescent moon. Length 4.4cms. Weight 4.8gms.
Condition
The lot is in good overall condition with light scratches in keeping with general wear. Replacement base metal pin. Slight wear to the gilt finish. The strings of the cello are bent inwards where the bow joins, possibly by design. The diamonds appear bright and well matched. Estimated total diamond spread weight 0.10ct, which is no indication of the total diamond weight.
