William Adolphus Knell was active in London during the nineteenth century. He was known for his oil and watercolor paintings of seascapes and boats. Knell’s marine paintings are characterized by a dramatic sense of light and atmospheric quality. William Adolphus Knell’s work was exhibited at the Royal Academy; British Institute, and Suffolk Street Gallery, London; and the Bridgewater Gallery, New York.
