edited by Aldus Manutius and others, Greek apart from Aldus's dedication and the colophon in Latin, 234 leaves, woodcut capitals and head-pieces, 2 initial capitals with old hand-colouring, old Greek inscription on preliminary blank f., with further marginalia in Latin & Greek scattered throughout early part of the work, some light damp-staining more notably towards the end, some other minor age-toning and light marking to margins, old German/Latin ff. laid down on inside front covers, contemporary blind-tooled vellum over boards, lacking clasps and most of tie, surface rubbing, creasing to spine, [Renouard 5; BMC V, 553; Goff A959; PMM 38], folio, Venice, Aldus Manutius, 1 November 1495. The first of five parts of the Aldine edition of Aristotle's work: " the great Aldine editio princeps , issued in five folio volumes between 1495 and 1498, was the first major Greek prose text to be re-introduced in the original to the western world by the intervention of the printing press."
