Description
English Silverplate Honey Pot and American Sterling Silver Bonbon Dish, mid-20th century, the honey pot by Mappin & Webb, in the form of a bee, the hinged wings rising to reveal the glass thorax pot, complete with wooden honey dipper, l. 6-1/2", the Reed & Barton sterling dish in the form of three conjoined lily pads, dia. 6-3/4", 5.80 t. oz.
Condition
Honey Pot: Overall Condition: Good. The glass body has two chips on the rim, one 1/16" long, the other 5/8" long, the latter extending the width (1/4") of the rim. Both are concealed by the closed lid. Otherwise in excellent condition, with no dents, breaks or repairs noted. Marked (on the underside of the lid): "Triple Deposit / Mappin & Webb / Prince's Plate / London & Sheffield / e / W11518" and "RJ/132/13". The dipper is probably a later replacement. Bonbon Dish: Overall Condition: Very Good. No condition issues noted beyond light wear consistent with age and use. Marked (on the underside): "Reed & Barton / Sterling / X101".
