Description

CONTINENTAL PORCELAIN OLD PARIS "VIEUX PARIS" TYPE VASE, large cylindrical form, with flaring, elongated neck, and short ankle on round foot, with applied foliate and scroll-form handles. The cobalt-blue body painted with elaborate gilt seaweed and foliate patterns, the neck with bands of gilt cailloute (little pebbles) and bouquets on dark blue alternating with bands of white brackets and scrolling foliage, a finely-painted large bouquet in center reserve. Incised "4" within the foot ring. Circa 1830-1840. 19 1/2" HOA.

Provenance: Ex-collection of Dorothy Fowler Cooper, Orchid House, Washington, DC.

Condition

Very good condition despite some gilding wear.
