Survival kit: battery, hygiene and medical set for cosmonauts

This is an emergency kit of Russian cosmonauts. In a small orange plastic box with the Cyrillic inscription ‘pharmacy’ are small differently colored ampules with ingredients. The contained ampules are protected via a bail from freely floating around in the weightlessness of the spacecraft. Inside the lid are take on instructions for the medicine. Among the remedies there are for example painkillers, a drug in case of poisoning and antibiotics. In addition to this lot, there is a bag with so-called “space condoms” which one has to put on due to the hygienic reasons. In this bag is the number ‘????. ???-9060-II50’. Further, there is a sock or glove like bag of some kind of brown nylon fabric with the number ‘AVI-9060-300 N 0430258’. A small bag with gauze bandages is attached to the bag.



This kind of battery of a survival receiver/sender is used for Russian cosmonauts, which cannot be found after landing, to establish communication with a mobile station. Messages can be received and send. The battery number 4867 was manufactured in April 1989 and is durable for an approximate period of 30 months. It works safely and reliable at normal temperature. When the temperature cools off to 0 degree Celsius, it is of utmost importance that the battery is warmed up again within the next 30 minutes to a temperature of 20 to 20 degrees Celsius. This is taking place for example under the garment of the cosmonauts. The battery is dated ‘27.04.89‘ and numbered ‘4867’ on the label in black pen.



The survival kit is in a good condition according its age. The battery has not been tested and Auctionata does not guarantee functionality. The dimensions are max. 43.5 x 29 cm.
