Top secret documents of the Soviet space program

This is a collection of three documents which used to be top secret at their time. They are located in an envelope entitled ‘top secret’ and addressed from Leonid Smirnov to Sergei Korolev (without a date). Verso are remains of a Soviet seal, which used to close the envelope for sending secret documents.

The three documents report about various events or topics but are, however, not dated.

1. The report about Yuri Gagarin’s selection as the cosmonaut for the first manned space flight in 1961. This report was created after the flight of 12.04.1961 and protocols the selection process. This document is signed by K. Kerimov.
   
2. The report tells about the development of the space suit ‘Jastreb’ which was developed for the connection of Soyuz 4 and Soyuz 5 of 1969 that took place on 16.01.1969. Due to this suit, the cosmonauts could move from one spaceship to another. This suit as well as the helmet are described in a great detail. The report bears a stamp and an unreadable signature
   
3. The third document deals with a historically important connection of Soyuz 19 with the Apollo 18 which took place on 19.07.1975 as the result of an agreement about a cooperation between the USA and USSR
   
   A special system was developed for the Apollo-Soyuz-Test Project (ASTP), in order to realize the connection because the atmospheric pressure of the Soyuz and Apollo differed from each other. That it is why a special capsule was developed to equilibrate the difference in the atmosphere. According to the documents, new and better flame proved suits had to be developed for this program. This report tells that the model of a training suit which was developed for flight trainings, is attached to this report.
   

This lot additionally contains two passes from the 1990s which allowed vehicles to pass through a military zone.



The top secret documents are according their age in a good condition. The paper is browned, there is marginal wear and folds. The dimensions are max. 33.5 x 24.5 cm.
