White ‘anti-static’ coverall which was worn by the ground personnel at the landings

This is a white ‘static free’ coverall of the US-American aerospace. The suit is of linear cut and is closed with a button border in front. The suit has got a collar. At the back is a grid patch at hip height for tools. The special coverall is made with 99% Aramid and 1% Brunsmet. It was mandatory for all personnel working directly at the shuttle to wear these coveralls. The suit precludes static build-up in the dry desert environment that might ignite the volatile fuels associated with the shuttle. A photo of the first owner of the suit and fellow NASA photographers wearing these coveralls is included.



The suit has a patch inside that is inscribed ‘40 / 31 / RN 35896 / 99% Aramid, 1% Brunsmet, machine wash warm, tumble dry, remove promptly, use cool iron, union made in USA, ACINA 163’. The collar is recto left underneath inscribed in black felt pen ‘TBC F8’ and verso underneath ‘Slezak’. The suit is in good condition with slight staining. The dimensions are 159 x 48 cm (height x width).
