The glass pyramid once decorated the desk of Korolev

The pyramid-shaped corpus of the glass statue arises on a triangular plinth. It imitates in its form a rocket. The pyramid is polished and matted as a rocket with jet stream at the back edge. Below at the plinth, the signature of Sergei Korolev (1907-1966), the Soviet rocket engineer and pioneer of aerospace shines through. The pyramid is entitled ‘Vostok-1‘in the front’s lower area and dated ‘12.4.1961’ in Cyrillic in glass etching. This date marks the first orbital flight of the Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin. According to the consignor, the glass pyramid once decorated Korolev’s personal desk.

The glass pyramid is in good condition with traces of use, merely the upper tip and the edges of the plinth are slightly nudged. The total dimensions including the plinth are 15.5 x 8.3 x 7 cm (height x width x depth).
