Collection of 13 commemorative medals of key achievements of the Soviet space program
This is a collection of 13 commemorative medals of key achievements of the Soviet space program. Four medals commemorate different rockets that were launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome. The Baikonur cosmodrome is the world’s first and largest spaceport, which was built by the Soviet Union on the fifties as a basis for the operations of the space program. Three medals were minted for the 35th anniversary of the runway (1955 until 1990). In addition, there are one Center Management Flight CCCP medal and two USSR Mission Control Center medals. The collection is added by an Austromir-91 medal, a cooperation of the USSR and Austria for the first space flight of an Austrian astronaut. Last, there are Interkosmos and Glavcosmos medals.
The 13 medals are in good condition with minimal traces of wear and age. They are 52 to 79 cm in diameter.
