Rocket toys are one of the youngest

The space programs of the US and the Soviet Union are the role models for these toy rockets from the sixties. The lot is comprised of three rockets and one space capsule that are animated by space figures

1. The Holdraketa is one of the most famous rocket tin toys. It was made by the Hungarian manufacturer Gyar. When pushing the antenna, the rocket moves from its initial vertical starting position into horizontal landing position. The frontal ladder swings out and the Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin (1934-1968), the first man in space ever, appears! The cosmonauts can enter the rocket via two ladders. The toy is inscribed with ‘Holdraketa’ and the logo of Interkosmos. Unfortunately, the ladder on Gagarin’s side is detached from the body of the rocket, but this can be easily amended.

2. The space capsule is inspired by a real space capsule of the US-American aerospace. The Japanese company SH-Horikawa manufactured the toy. The model is moveable on wheels. By opening the front hatch an astronaut on a seat appears from the inside of the capsule. The hatch on the rear buries the apparatus of the capsule. The space capsule is inscribed ‘UNITED STATES’, bears the NASA Logo, the sign of the company ‘SH’ and ‘MADE IN JAPAN’. One of the prongs of the plastic top has broken off. The closing cap of the astronaut does not lock anymore, but it can be easily fixed.

3. The Japanese toy manufacturer Y-Yonezawa designed this interplanetary rocket after a model of the NASA space program. The interplanetary rocket model possesses complex functions. It is a long silver tin and plastic rocket with red plastic nose cone and a large yellow plastic engine at the rear. When operating the switch, the rocket moves forward, the two hatches on the top open up and the inner capsule with blinking lights appears. The logo of the manufacturer Y-Yonezawa as well as the one of NASA are visible. The wheels are slightly bent. Aside from that the rocket is somewhat dusted. The toy rocket makes real rocket engine sounds – a rare piece.

4. This is a toy model of a docking rocket of the US-American aerospace. It is constructed of two pieces that are connected through a string. The rocket possesses an automatic docking function, which is operated via a switch. Thereby, the rear part is pulled, lights start blinking and the upper radar starts turning. At the same time the rocket utters real space sounds. The toy rocket is in very good almost mint condition as it has been stored in the original box. The radar is missing. The rocket is inscribed ‘NASA SPACECRAFT‘, with the NASA logo as well as the company sign of Daiya and ‘MADE IN JAPAN’.

Due to their fragile construction, only a small number of these kinds of rocket toys have survived, which makes this collection a special lot in this auction. All of the toys are battery powered. The rocket toys are slightly scratched and dented from use as well as minimally partly rusty. The toys have not been tested and Auctionata does not guarantee functionality of the objects. The dimensions are max. 43.5 x 14 x 14 cm.
