The present set of Vintage silver gelatin prints depicts a selection of the most famous US-American actors of the 1960s. One picture presents Kirk Douglas during an interview, while a second picture shows him dressed with a dark jacket. The third picture captures Jack Lemmon in a relaxed pose, while the last offered photograph shows Lex Barker with his Herald Tribune, sitting next to his wife on a bench.



The picture ‘Kirk Douglas wearing a jacket’ is verso dated with pencil ‘10.11.60/21‘. The motif ‘Interview with Kirk Douglas’ is verso dated with pencil ‘22.11.60/63‘. The surface of the photograph shows are a number of pale yellowish stains in the lower right corner; these, however, may not be classified as a damage. The motif ‘Jack Lemmon’ is verso dated with pencil ‘1.1.62/5e‘ and inscribed ‘B. Hoop’. The photograph ‘Lex Barker with wife’ is verso dated with pencil ‘3.11.60/16’. This work also shows a number of pale inoffensive stains in the surface upper right. The image size is equal to the sheet size of 12.6 x 17.7 cm.



Alfred Kucera

The Austrian photographer Alfred Kucera worked for the airport photo service in Vienna in the 1960s. In this role he produced an impressive collection of photographs depicting celebrities, politicians, Hollywood stars and musicians at their arrival or departure from the airport. Kucera’s works provide an authentic overview of the spirit of the time. (cbo)
