George Nelson Thin Edge cabinets, pair, by Herman Miller, c. 1960, teak, each with four drawers with polished aluminum pulls, center vanity with lift-top, mirror and internal light, original finish, cabinet at right signed with round metal tag, as shown: 88"w x 18.5"d x 28.5"h From the estate of a former Herman Miller employee.
Condition
No chips or cracks. very good original condition. One water ring to left cabinet top. No restoration or repairs. No damage to vanity -- light works, hinges in very good working order, no chips or cracks to the mirror. Irregularity to front edge of vanity top in one area, probably from handling over time. The drawers are clean and work well. Sturdy and structurally sound.
The items on pages 130-133, lots 764-776, were purchased in 1958-60 by a Herman Miller employee in California. During her employment, she built a collection of iconic George Nelson and Charles & Ray Eames designs. Around 1970, she and her husband sold their modern house and moved to a dude ranch in Wyoming. They placed their collection of Herman Miller items in storage, where they remained for nearly 40 years.
