JOHN L. PIERCE
(1895 - 1959) Brigadier general who commanded the 16th Armored Division late in the war, capturing Pilsen. War-date T.L.S. on XVI Armored Div. letterhead, 1+pp. 4to., [n.p.], May 24, 1945 to an admirer. Pierce sends a 16th Armored patch to his correspondent (included) and mentions seeing his son on VE Day. He signs a photo of them both, also included. As to the taking of Pilsen, Pierce states that a Lt. Col. Perkins witnessed the suicide of Reichsstathalter Konrad Henlein and states that another general was shot by partisans. Mounted along margins with tape to a larger page, thus discolored, signature on photo covered with tape. Just good.
