(1913 - 2006) 38th President of the United States who assumed office upon the resignation of Richard Nixon, who Ford later pardoned for any involvement in the Watergate scandal. T.L.S. on his congressional letterhead, 1p. 4to., Washington, Mar. 30, 1971 concerning the end of funding of a supersonic transport aircraft (SST). In part: "...The House and Senate agreed with you and have voted to delete funds for continuation of the work on prototypes...I was truly disappointed that the Congress took the action is did...I hope that eventually the whole matter will be resolved...I am sincere and concerned...".Folds, else fine. Public pressure and environmental concerns killed the American SST program...and it is now effectively dead worldwide.
