Eddie Beyuka (Zuni, 1920-2002) Channel Inlay Bolos 

lot of 2, includes a snake dancer wrapped with two snakes -- one in his mouth, bolo inlaid with mother-of-pearl, jet, turquoise, and coral; back of bolo inscribed Edward Beyuka/ year 1978, and drum tips stamped EAB, length of figure 6 in.; AND a pair of mudheads inlaid with similar materials; foot of one figure with bracket for stand, reverse and drum tips stamped EAB, length of figure 6 in.
third quarter 20th century

Beyuka (Zuni, 1920-2002) is renown not only for his beautifully inlaid bolos featuring colorful inlaid katsinas, but also for his outstanding WWII record. He was a Bataan Death March survivor and a Prisoner of War.

One piece of shell appears to have been broken and repaired.
