The etching in vibrant green, yellow, orange, red and blue with brown and black created by the Danish artist in 1971. It is performed in an expressive and gestural line and comes from the portfolio ‘Entrée de Secours’ with nine color etchings by Asger Jorn. The portfolio was published in 1972 by Verlag Visat in Paris.

The etching in colors is signed and dated lower right in pencil ‘Jorn 71’ numbered lower left in pencil ‘98/100’. The sheet is overall somewhat toned and mat-stained. It is reversibly mounted in a mat at the upper sheet edges. The frame indicates slight signs of wear. The plate measures 36.6 x 27 cm, the sheet 66.3 x 50.4 cm. The framed dimensions are 70 x 54.3 cm

Asger Jorn (1914-1973)

Danish painter Asgar Jorn was born 1914 in Vejrum, Jutland. In 1929 Jorn took privat lessons in painting by Martin Kaalund-Jørgensen. He moved to Paris in 1936 to study at the Fernand Légers Académie Contemporaine. He was also co-founder of the artist group CoBrA and participated at the Documenta II (1959) and Documenta III (1964) in Kassel. He is considered the ‘Picasso of the North’. (fea)
