Note: George Dureau created a version of "Beach Scene" as a print for the New Orleans Contemporary Arts Center in 1985; the figures depicted in this monumental painting are some of Dureau's best-known models: Troy Brown, Brian Reeves, Kathy "B." and Byron Robinson. Though specifically recognizable, the figures are also "mythic" in scale and pose, invoking allegorial figures such as the Four Seasons.
