Description:
Brass casting.
The casting was made by Jeffers scholar and author, Marlan Bielke at Rinehard iron Works, Plymouth, CA. (now defunct) in an edition of one. The piece was cast of jeweler’s brass, sand cast in petro bond sand from a pattern taken from a multi-level hand made stamping die created by the late master engraver, Claud Davis Jr. of Osawatomie, Kansas, which was used to stamp the outer front cover of Shining Clarity: God & Man in the Works of Robinson Jeffers by Marlan Bielke. That die was never returned from the book printer and is presumed lost. The image of Jeffers is from a photo by Carl Bissinger taken in the 1950’s presumably after Una’s death which shows Jeffers peeping out of Hawk Tower, with the initials RJ/UJ inscribed in the stone above Jeffers' head. Fien condition. Provenance: Marlan Beilke.
