Lot of 4. Ledger Books of checks, from the "Bank of Italy" (based in San Francisco) with receipts, filled in with amounts and dates. The reverse of many bear bank cancellation stamps. The second book holds 1922 checks, cancelled as above. The Bank of Italy was founded in San Francisco in 1904 by Amadeo Giannini. It survived the 1906 earthquake and fires. The Bank began opening branches in other cities in 1909, and had 24 branches by 1918. The Bank later evolved into Bank of America. Ledgers measure 14" x 6.5". Internal pages and outer covers in fair condition. Small Check Register (unused) booklet, measures 7" x 2.75". Small Check Register cover, snap closure, embossed with seal of "Bank of Italy California." Santa Clara, CA
