Description
Incorporated in 1868 in Nevada. VERY EARLY No. 66 issued to William Sharon for 500 shares by F.A. Tritte, secretary, and Wm Sharon, president, on 23 November 1869. One red, Nevada State Revenue Stamp affixed to the certificate. One brown, 25 cent, R 44, R4 uncancelled, adhesive, imperf. The vignette is of two miners observing a Virginia and Truckee Railroad engine going by. The Virginia & Truckee Railroad was chartered 11 February 1869, opened 1 January 1870, and then sold to the Virginia & Truckee Railway on 1 July 1905. This certificate is very rare and desirable considering that it was issued to and signed by William Sharon. Brown staining on the left side, very clean elsewhere. (Toth V&T collection) Virginia City, NV
