Description
DESCRIPTION: This is a colonial hand carved cherry wooden butter paddle and a hand turned cherry dough bowl from New England, circa 1700s. The cherry butter paddle is hand carved out of one solid piece of cherry wood and hook on end of handle for gripping the side of the dough bowl. The cherry dough bowl is hand turned from a single piece of cherry wood and has a narrow incised rim collar. The cherry dough bowl has a flat bottom for resting and is slightly out of round that is normal for hand turned bowls.MEASUREMENTS: Cherry butter paddle is 10 inches long including handle and 5 1/2 inches wide. Cherry dough bowl is 17 inches wide, 5 inches high, and 51 inches round in circumference.
Condition
The butter paddle and dough bowl are in excellent condition with age appropriate wear and patina.
