Description
MILLER GLENN: (1904-1944) American Jazz Musician and Bandleader. Fine fountain pen ink signature ('Glenn Miller') on an oblong 12mo piece with a newspaper portrait neatly attached alongside the signature and with an attractive calligraphic heading, 'The Moonlight Serenader', in the hand of a collector at the head. Neatly laid down to the inside front cover of an autograph album. The album also includes 29 signatures by various members of Glenn Miller's Army Air Force Band comprising Trigger Alpert (Bass), Bob Nichols (Trumpet), Steve Steck (Crew Chief Vocal member), Johnny Halliburton (Trombone), Fred Guerra (Saxophone), Ray McKinley (Drums), Mel Powell (Piano), Jack Ferrier (Saxophone), George Ockner (Violin), Carmen Mastren (Guitar), Johnny Desmond (Vocalist), Hank Freeman (Saxophone), Zeke Zarchy (Trumpet), Jerry Gray (Arranger), Vince Carbone (Saxophone), Gene Steck (Crew Chief Vocal member), Lynn Allison (Crew Chief Vocal member), Whitey Thomas (Trumpet), Jimmy Priddy (Trombone), Frank Ippolito (Drums), Addison Collins Jr. (French Horns), Nat Peck (Trombone), Jack Steele (Trumpet), Bernie Privin (Trumpet), Michael 'Peanuts' Hucko (Saxophone), Artie Malvin (Crew Chief Vocal member), Mannie Thaler (Saxophone), Murray Kane (Crew Chief Vocal member) and Larry Hall (Trombone). Further including the signatures of US Navy Bandleader Sam Donahue and American-born Bandleader Carroll Gibbons. Each of the signatures are on individual pages, most in green fountain pen ink. A rare and attractively presented collection of signatures. VG €250-375||Research suggests that the present signatures were obtained at the Queensberry All Services Club on Old Compton Street, London (now the site of the Prince Edward Theatre) in 1944, most likely on 21st September when the Glenn Miller Army Air Force Band performed alongside Sam Donahue's US Navy Band - representing the only time that the two bands played together.| ||
