EISENHOWER DWIGHT D.: (1890-1969) American General of World War II, later American President 1953-61. T.L.S., Dwight D Eisenhower, as President, one page, small 4to, Washington, 26th July 1955, to Silvestre Gennari, Vice President of the Lions Club of Geneva, on the printed stationery of The White House. Eisenhower states that, just before leaving Geneva, he received from the American Consul General 'the lovely "channe genevoise" that you so kindly presented to me on behalf of The Lions Club of Geneva' and continues 'I am delighted to have it, particularly since I understand from your letter that the pitcher is traditionally a symbol of friendship.' In concluding the President asks for his deep appreciation of their thoughtfulness to be passed to the members of the club. Two light stains to the lower left corner, not affecting the text or signature, otherwise VG. €250-375
