Wu Zuoren (1908-1997)

Wu Zuoren was a Chinese painter who was born in the province Jiangsu. He painted both the traditional Chinese ink painting and the European oil painting. The artist was famous known for his animal paintings in ink. His 1963 published panda stamps established the Giant Panda as a symbol of the new China. A second series of six panda stamps, which was issued in 1973, and a more complex Panda edition on the basis of his ink painting was created 1985. Wu Zuoren was chairman of the Chinese Artists Association and a member of the standing committee of the National People's Congress.



Condition: The scroll painting is in good condition with slight signs of age and wear. Partly small signs of age (kinks) and small spots in the silk mat are visible. The overall dimensions are 171 x 51 cm and the image has a size of 88.5 x 44 cm.
