Description
Carved Polychromed Wood Figure of Bacchus as a Winged Putto, 19th c., seated on a cushion, holding grapes and a wine cup, with traces of original paint, H.- 26 in., W.- 11 1/2 in., D.- 14 in.
Condition
As found. Large and small areas of loss to wood and finish observed throughout. Left wing is noted with a screw, and right wing is noted with residue, both with large cracks – apparent repairs. Right underarm is seen with a ½ inch spot of wood splintering. Right foot is now lacking, and legs and arms are observed with several small fractures. An appealing figure.
