Description

Pair of French Ebonized Wall Clocks, c. 1870, time and strike, one with an enamel dial within a border inlaid with mother-of-pearl; the second with a white marble dial with porcelain chapter marks, within a mother-of-pearl inlaid mahogany border, H.- 24 1/2 in., W.- 19 1/2 in., D.- 5 in.

Condition

Condition consistent with age and use. Both clocks observed with slight losses to the edge of the outer clock frame. The marble clock face is observed with two horizontal cracks, and the loss of the decorative brass surround to the “I” chapter mark. The brass around the enamel face is observed as slightly dented on the right side. Both clocks with a few small losses to mother-of-pearl inlay, and slight cracks to veneer. A classic pair. ALL PROPERTY IS SOLD “AS IS.” NO STATEMENT REGARDING CONDITION OF ANY ITEM, WHETHER IT IS MADE ORALLY AT THE AUCTION OR ANY OTHER TIME, OR IN WRITING IN THE CATALOGUE OR ELSEWHERE, SHALL BE DEEMED TO BE A WARRANTY, REPRESENTATION, OR ASSUMPTION OF LIABILITY.
