Description
A pair of late 19th century 15ct gold diamond and paste lorgnettes. The oval-shape lenses, hinged to the tapered stem, with rose-cut diamond and blue paste cabochon accents. Length 16.2cms. Weight 34.6gms.
Condition
Overall condition good to fair. Surface scratches and areas of discolouration in keeping with general age and wear. There are bruises to the stem. One of the lenses is not totally enclosed in the frame. One diamond deficient. Individual size, setting and nature of rose-cut diamonds prevents accurate colour, clarity and weight assessment. The spread of the diamonds match an approximate total weight of 0.20ct. This is a guide only and not a reflection on the true carat weight. The blue paste has surface abrasion.
