A lovely silver and copper cane on whangee bamboo. The small mixed metal handle is 1 1/2" high and 1 1/8" across the silver top that is initialed: "J.B." for the owner. The sides are fashioned in bright copper in a foliate design and the handle finishes with a fancy silver base. The shaft is whangee bamboo that terminates with a 1 1/4" white metal and iron ferrule. The overall length is 35 2/3" and the condition is very good. It is perhaps American, ca 1890, and it is a beautiful decorative example that reflects the Japanese influence in art objects in the late 19th Century. Estimate: $550-$750.
