Description
A handsome Jalisco red-slipped seated woman, West Mexico, c. 100 BC - AD 250, depicted nude, with hands raised and wearing a tall headdress and ear spools, her features nicely rendered with long angular nose, open mouth and slanted eyes. A very attractive example with great color and state of preservation. H: 8 in (20.3 cm). Intact with nicely burnished brick-red surfaces with scattered mineral deposits. Ex Dr. J. Hilsabeck estate, acquired from the 1950’s to early 1980’s.
