Description
An exceptional Middle Horizon figure from the central Highlands of Peru, ca. 600 – 1000 AD. This choice example is 5-1/2 in high and depicts a standing female with extensive facial décor. She is elaborately painted and has good mineral deposits. Perforated at the shoulders and mounted on stand. Rare type! Cf. Morgan, 'The Pottery Figurines of Pre-Columbian Peru, Vol.2', plate 15.
