Description
A Danish silver mustard pot of pedestal form, having beaded rims and engraved with ribbon tied foliate swags, struck with the national 'Three Towers' mark, date rubbed, and the Assay Master mark for Christian F. Heise (1904-1932), also with two further struck marks. Together with a similar pepper caster and another mustard pot, the pepper struck with the same Assay Master mark and the 'Three Towers' mark with date for 1907 and also a maker's mark for S & M Benzen, Copenhagen (1895 -1937), the mustard struck with the maker's mark only. Height of first mustard pot measures 5 1/8 inches (13 cm), combined weight 9.9 ozt (307.9 grams).
Condition
All three pieces display general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with their age and use. Slight loss of surface detail to decoration. The hinged lid on the larger mustard is a little loose. The hinged lid on the smaller mustard is a little stiff and a gap remains when in the closed position. The pepper caster has a slight lean to one side. Bayonet lock fitting to lid, which appears in working order. Slight knock to the rim of the lid. Mustard pots missing glass liners.
