Description
A George III silver and ivory handled stilton scoop, the handle of plain and tapering outline. Hallmarked Samuel Pemberton, Birmingham 1802. Length measures 7 7/8 inches (20 cm).
Condition
The scoop appears in quite worn and used condition, displaying general surface scratches and marks commensurate with the age and use, and also some quite heavy tarnishing to the silver sections. The scoop appears flattened with some very deep scratches and the short stem is a little bent. The rounded edge of the scoop has some little dints and the metal feels quite thin. The ferrule is loose. A split is visible to the ivory handle, also some general nicks and marks. The hallmarks appear rubbed but legible.
