Item Details

Description

DS A 22 x 38.4cm one page, partly printed document, dated 10th February 1807, signed at foot "Th. Jefferson" as President and countersigned "James Madison" as Secretary of State. The document is a land grant issued to Andrew Griffin of Pennsylvania for "the lot on section number twenty eight of the Lands directed to be sold at Steubenville by the Act of Congress entitled 'An Act providing for the sale of the Lands of the United States in the Territory north-west of the Ohio, and above the mouth of Kentucky river'". Document bears a large blind embossed seal in the lower left corner. In good condition, with heavy intersecting storage folds. A vertical fold affecting a single letter of Madison's signature, a mild overall shade of toning and moderate foxing to lower portion, affecting most of Madison`s signature. Jefferson`s signature slightly faded, but still completely legible.
