Mid 19th century, the hinged lid over a rectangular body, the sides painted green, the lid and front panel each blue with a reserved rectangle polychrome-painted in the Pennsylvania Dutch style with stylized floral designs, the front panel with an inscription and dated 1852, raised on purple-painted runners, with original hand forged iron handles, lock, key, key escutcheon, and hinges, the interior fitted with a boxed compartment, 21.5'' H x 48.25'' W x 24'' D, est: $1000/1500

Condition

Structurally sound. General marks, nicks, scratches and gouges commensurate with age and use. Shrinkage cracks to timber and joints. Heavy rubbed wear and losses to painted decoration. The feet later replacements. Old metal-reinforced repairs to rear panel. Areas of woodworm holes.
