Item Details
Description

Introduced in May 1961 the Jaguar E-type 3.8 FHC was a sensation with classic good looks and performance unrivalled at the price. Often heralded as the most beautiful car of all time Jaguar, not surprisingly, made no significant changes till the introduction of the 4.2 engine in October 1964. Additionally they incorporated an all syncromesh gearbox, increased legroom and better torque from the new capacity engine. This resulted in the best driving E-type and now Grand Tourer to match the best being produced by its rivals. The E-type still continued to hammer the opposition on pricing.

An original Heritage Certificate shows this left-hand drive Series I 4.2 Fixedhead Coupe was manufactured on 5th April 1966 and originally registered in Coventry, UK to a Mr A. Roberts under the personal export scheme. Originally finished in cream with a red leather interior, it was supplied by Henley’s London and spent the majority of its life in the USA. It was restored in 2012 and returned to the UK 2013 and re registered as HOV 115D.

This fully matching number car is now finished in white with red interior, having had a complete body re-spray and new red leather interior fitted. The bodywork is presented in lovely order, with good shut lines and a consistent paint throughout. The interior looks superb in red and the engine bay is very clean and presentable. Mechanically the engine boasts good oil pressure and pulls well. It has recently had a full check over and comes with an MoT until Nov 2014. A fine example, it is supplied with a number of invoices relating to the restoration work and a UK V5C logbook. The Series I 4.2 Fixedhead Coupe is seen by many as the most desirable E-Type to own and use, with the reliable 4.2 powerplant and purest of body lines. This example is an ideal first classic for the discerning enthusiast.
