Description

DESCRIPTION: This is a woven splint lidded sewing basket from New England circa 1800s. The lidded sewing basket is oval in shape and handmade of woven poplar & sweet grass. There are four woven paint decorated rods that decorate and surround the lidded sewing basket. The lid is domed shaped and raised to accommodate sewing articles. The lidded sewing basket is velvet fabric lined using a neutral color. There is a fabric ribbon and woven braided sweet grass that decorates the rim of the lidded sewing basket. MEASUREMENTS: 10 1/2 inches, 15 ½ inches wide, & 47 inches round in circumference.

Condition

Age appropriate wear and patina with minor imperfections (see photos).
