This painting, executed in oil on canvas, was created in 1974 by the Russian artist Galina Alekseyevna Roumyanseva (b.1927). Depicted is a young boy standing in his playing room between his horse and teddy bear, accompanied by the family dog, who has placed himself in the foreground. The bright color, a little muted in the background, as well as the subject itself make this piece of work a loving portrait. The painting is signed lower right by the artist in Cyrillic.



The painting is on verso inscribed in Cyrillic, titled and dated ‘1974’. It is in good condition, the surface shows slight craquelure. There is some retouching the hair of the boy and the nose of the bear visible under UV. Otherwise overall of good impression. The stretcher measures 100 x 90 cm. The framed dimensions are 106 x 96 cm. The frame with slight traces of use.



Galina Alekseyevna Roumyanseva (b. 1927)

Galina Alekseyevna Roumyanseva was born in 1927 in Leningrad. She went to the Leningrad Repin art college until 1957 and studied under Boris Iogansson. Her subject matter is mostly depictions of her family and landscape impressions. She began taking part in national and international exhibitions from 1957 on. Works of hers are located in museums in St. Petersburg, Perm, Krasnodar, Pereslawl, as well as in numerous private collections in Germany, France, Japan and in Switzerland. (cru)
