35. Ivory Globe and Sundial Cane-19th Century-Ivory terrestrial globe cane accurately carved in scrimshaw technique with the continents and the oceans and their related appellations. The globe is hinged and opens to show a sundial with roman scale on the lower part and a blond tortoiseshell veneer on the folding upper half and comes on a malacca shaft with a faceted steel collar and a stag horn ferrule. The whole cane is in excellent, original condition with a warm, age grown patina. By tradition, similar canes belonged to retired captains with great marine careers.-H. 2 ¼” Diameter, O.L. 34”-
