79. Porcelain Indoor Dress Cane-Ca. 1870-The oversized KPM Berlin (King Porcelain Manufacture) handle is modeled in a curving, early Baroque shape dominated by a lady’s head. The head with frill collar and tiny bonnet over a beautiful hairdo shows a beautiful face with blue eyes and red lips and the body of the handle is modeled with raised scrolls with rich gold highlight and painted with a larger flower composition on the back and two butterflies on the stem. Rosewood shaft and a horn ferrule. This cane remained until recently an inalienable family treasure, handed down through three generations and is as fresh as new. This landmark porcelain handle was modeled by Friedrich Elias Meyer for the world famous KPM, around 1760 and recorded to have been produced over 150 years. It reflects all the seductive powers of the vitrified material and is porcelain art at its best. -H. 5 ¼” x 3 ¼”, O.L. 36 ¼”-The white gold of the KPM, Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur, has been made in Berlin for the last 250 years. Friedrich the Great christened the Royal Porcelain Manufacturers in the year 1763 and gave it the famous blue scepter as a trademark. From this time onwards the name KPM has stood for the most perfectly crafted, highest-quality porcelain and became great fame for its splendid modeling and colorful decoration.
