105. Ivory Elephant Cane-Ca. 1880-Large ivory handle carved to depict a prone elephant. Finely chased silver collar, dark rosewood shaft and a stag horn ferrule. The bulk animal is amazingly adapted to the form of the handle, and the raised ear secures a perfect ergonomic shape. The cane was obviously used with great caution, shows the right amount of wear to increase its appeal and not diminish its value and is praised by an age grown patina coupled to a smooth and lustrous surface.-H. 4 ¾” x 2”, O.L 37 ¼”
