Albrecht Durer (1471-1528), German: "The Peasant and His Wife at the Market" 1519, small print with date at top, engraving on laid paper, 4-1/4" x 2-3/4", framed. The term "laid paper" in this item's description refers to the paper manufacturing process used during the pre-mechanical period of European papermaking, it has a tell-tale ribbed texture due to this process. This is different from being "laid down" whereby the original paper is glued to another medium, which is not the case in this item. The condition of this print would be considered better than average given its age; there is very little edge wear and none that runs into the print. There is a slight wave to the paper which runs horizontally but this is typical as well.
