All are illustrated by Gustave Dore, including "Dante's Inferno" by Dante Alighieri, translated by The Rev. Henry Francis Cary, M.A., New Edition, 1860, Cassell, Petter, Galpin & Co.; "The Fables of La Fontaine", translated into English verse by Walter Thornbury, Cassell & Company, limited; "Milton's Paradise Lost", edited by Robert Vaughan, D.D., Cassell & Company, limted; "The Legend of the Wandering Jew", Belford, Clarke & Company, New York and Chicago.
Condition
Measuring H. 11 1/2" to H. 14 1/2". The spines on both La Fontaines Fables and Dante's Inferno are partially loose at either end, each shows wear along the edge of the binding and fading/discoloration to the front and back covers. The first several pages of Dante's inferno show a 2" tear at the lower left side. Each page on all four shows toning about the edges, with several bearing light to medium areas of staining. Ln
